Here’s an exclusive clip from a new Tom And Jerry box set
Tom And Jerry has been one of the most storied cartoon series in history, with the iconic cat and mouse surviving various iterations and series starting way back in 1940. One of the strangest eras involved a series of theatrical shorts directed by Gene Deitch and animated by Czech artists who had never seen the series before. Strange things occur in these 13 episodes, including at least one instance of the cat and mouse raiding a liquor cabinet and getting blasted. (They also hurt each other, so don’t worry about that.) The Deitch shorts have been collected into their own set, Tom And Jerry: The Gene Deitch Collection, out this week on DVD. We’ve got an exclusive look at an interview with Deitch, in which he talks about the unusual production of these shorts.
