Here’s an exclusive first look at an Iron & Wine short film
Though it has blossomed over the years into something much more elaborate, Iron & Wine started out as an intimate recording project for Sam Beam. His first recordings—including stellar debut The Creek Drank The Cradle—were hushed affairs, and Beam recently dug into his lockbox and brought out some previously unreleased material as Archive Series Volume No. 1. Rather than celebrate the collection’s release in some dingy rock club, Beam made his way to Cleveland, West Virginia, to the Jerry Run Summer Theater, a gorgeous, homegrown performance space that’s almost literally in the middle of nowhere. Beam took a film crew with him for his performance, and ended up not just with a concert film, but the story of the theater itself, and he’s ready to release Dreamers And Makers Are My Favorite People, the resulting short film. We’ve got an exclusive look at an excerpt from Dreamers above; if you like what you see, the entire film is also available for purchase now. (And if you buy the movie, you’ll also get audio of the entire 22-song set that Beam performed at the Jerry Run.)
