Here’s Dawson’s Creek reenacted by Dachshunds

It’s hard to believe that when Dawson’s Creek premiered back in 1998 it was dubbed “the crudest network show aimed at kids.” Now that The O.C., Gossip Girl, and Pretty Little Liars have upped the ante on the teenage soap genre, the Massachusetts seaside drama of Dawson’s Creek looks positively quaint. And now those who want to revisit the more innocent recent past can do so thanks to a brand new parody called Dachshund’s Creek.

In this truly bizarre YouTube video, creator Michael Immerman enlists four Dachshunds to take on the roles—and accompanying teen angst—of Dawson, Joey, Pacey, and Jen. With remarkable attention to detail, the dogs reenact scenes from the show’s pilot accompanied by audio clips from the actual episode. (There’s also a recreation of the show’s “I Don’t Want To Wait” opening credits starting at 2:30.)

Immerman deserves credit for pulling some surprisingly compelling performances from his canine cast. In particular, Gandalf the Dachshund really gives James Van Der Beek a run for his money.
