Here’s Michelle Forbes as Retro Girl in PSN’s Powers TV show

Entertainment Weekly has put together a new photo set showing off the cast and costumes of the PlayStation Network’s upcoming cops and capes series Powers. Most of the show’s announced cast is on display, including Eddie Izzard (shirtless, manacled, and suffering from a bad case of heavy metal frontman hair), and sharp-suited District 9 star Sharlto Copley, who headlines the series as superhero-turned-police-detective Christian Walker. Staying in line with the “regular cops dealing with irregular foes” theme of Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming’s comic, the clothes on display tend toward realistic suits over spandex or capes, with only sci-fi veteran Michelle Forbes, playing popular superheroine Retro Girl, appearing in a traditional costume.

The new photo set does Powers considerably more credit than the trailer Sony released a few months ago, imbuing the show with a sense of style that the low-res video lacked. (It doesn’t hurt that you can’t hear Copley’s meandering South African accent repeat the word “POWERS!” over and over again when you look at a photo.) Forbes, especially looks greatalthough, given that the first volume of the Powers comic is titled Who Killed Retro Girl?, she might not be around to class up the show for long. Powers is set to debut on the PlayStation Network later this month.
