Here’s the first four minutes of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s season three premiere
Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns this Tuesday, so to build up excitement ABC went ahead and released the first four minutes of the season three premiere online. The semi-action-packed opener hints that the new direction the show was shifting toward over the course of its second season is now in full bloom. Last season the magical mist (needed to transform those with the Inhuman gene into their super-powered selves) got dispersed into some fish-oil pills. So this season, the team will be dealing with a lot of confused and newly-minted Inhumans who just wanted to up their omega-3 fatty acids. That’s exactly the case with the guy in this opening scene, who suddenly gains the ability to melt stuff around him.
But the biggest change in the opener is that Skye (Chloe Bennet) is no longer just a “hacktivist” agent, she’s now a full-blown Inhuman who goes by her birth name, Daisy Johnson, and can cause earthquakes with her hands. Plus, she got a haircut. Elsewhere, UnREAL’s Constance Zimmer pops up as the head of a rival government agency, Nick Blood’s Lance Hunter hasn’t left for his spinoff-that’s-not-a-spinoff yet, and Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) is still an active agent even though he lost a hand last season. Which makes sense: Coulson’s never been one to let dismemberment—or even death—stand in the way of his job.
