Here’s the first teaser for Fox’s new X-Men show, The Gifted
Although it’s been somewhat overshadowed by FX’s much trippier Legion, Fox has been quietly working on an X-Men series of its own for the last several months. Now, we’ve got the first teaser trailer for The Gifted, Bryan Singer’s new show about a mutant family forced to go on the run because of all these superpowered gifts they’ve been gifted with.
The kids in question are played by Gotham’s Natalie Alyn Lind and Percy Hynes White, who waste no time reminding us all why people hate and fear mutants, stealing a bag of microwave popcorn from a vending machine, and thus defrauding its owner/operator out of their hard-earned 75 cents. On the plus side, beloved Joss Whedon alum Amy Acker is also on board as the family’s mom, even if Singer and company are making her trot out Screenwriting For Superheroes 101 lines like “This is a burden; it’s also a gift.” Hopefully, we’ll get a slightly more fulfilling glimpse at the series—or at least a Gifted receipt—when the full trailer arrives on May 15.
