Here’s the likely female lead in the next Pirates Of The Caribbean movie
Despite Penelope Cruz being one of the few bright spots of the last Pirates Of The Caribbean movie, it seems Johnny Depp enjoyed hearing stories about her cool significant other so much, he decided he’d rather have Javier Bardem come aboard the next installment. Left without a female lead to stand around and deal with all of Depp’s wild gesticulations, producers began a hunt it seems they may have already finished: Deadline reports that Kaya Scodelario is in talks to join Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Scodelario, who first gained prominence on the U.K. drama Skins, more recently attracted attention for her skills running through CGI mazes in The Maze Runner. She’s currently filming the sequel, Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, which is definitely the name of a blockbuster Hollywood film and not an Atari 2600 game from 1983. If cast, Scodelario would join Depp, Bardem, Geoffrey Rush, and Orlando Bloom in the latest installment of what should probably be called Depp’s Wacky Diminishing Returns: The Franchise. Currently scheduled for a 2017 release, the fifth Pirates movies will be directed by Kon-Tiki helmers Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg.
