Here’s the original Doom, but with every image and sound file replaced by a grunting Tim Allen
This has been making the rounds for a couple of months now, but it’s too beautiful for us to pass up: a video showing off a mod for the original Doom, which replaces every single texture and sound file in the game with a grunting Tim Allen.
The mod (or WAD, if we’re using old school bulletin board lingo) seems to have been put together by YouTube user Marisa Kirisame, who assembled three different programs into a stark vision of the hell that presumably awaits Richard Karn after death.
Guns: Tim Allen. Monsters: Tim Allen. The digits in the player’s health bar: Tim Allen, Tim Allen. (And one more Tim Allen if you’re at full health, or manage to snag a Supercharge.) (The Supercharge is also Tim Allen.)
The game looks and sounds borderline unplayable—especially since you have to be running Linux, apparently, to get it to work—but there’s something irresistibly amusing about a glimpse into this dark world where more power reigns, where fences cannot hide faces, and where “I don’t think so, Tim” is no longer even possible to be the truth.
