Here’s the tearful British Christmas ad everyone’s talking about online
Every year, British retailer John Lewis debuts a new sob-inducing Christmas ad, and 2015 is no different. This year’s clip, which beautifully focuses on issues of elderly loneliness, just hit the net, and it’s one of those things that you’re now going to see posted and referenced everywhere from Facebook to Buzzfeed and back again. And while your cynics and late adopters could wait it out and ignore this ad, sure enough that their stubbornness will pay off if they can just manage to ignore all the “old man on the moon” memes until they go away, those people—and everyone, for that matter—could also just watch the damn thing right now, because come on. It’s a lovely ad, and Aurora’s cover of Oasis’ “Half The World Away” is quite good. Maybe don’t watch it at work, though, unless you’re a cold-hearted sort who doesn’t care about tearful and lonely old people. This ad has big time tear potential.
