Kevin Smith’s Tusk follows podcaster Wallace Bryton (Justin Long) as he embarks on a horror-tinged journey involving his latest podcast subject, Mr. Howe, (Michael Parks), an old seafarer who lives in a creepy mansion and shares tales of his many nautical exploits. It turns out, Mr. Howe is just as creepy as his abode, and hopes to turn Wallace into a walrus.
Based on an idea conceived on Smith’s own podcast, Tusk combines horror and comedy—which can be difficult to pull off. But whether the film pulls it off, there’s no question that a movie about turning a man into a walrus is some of Smith’s most original work in a while. Tusk is out this September.
