Here’s the trailer for Netflix’s BoJack Horseman, with Will Arnett as a drunk horse
Nobody likes a one-trick pony, especially when it comes to TV. AMC, for example, obviously found some pretty big hits on its hands when it first aired Mad Men and Breaking Bad, but nobody would’ve paid any more attention to the network if it had just tried to recapture that success by constantly making slightly different versions of those shows. Then it introduced a lighthearted comedy called The Walking Dead, and everyone recognized that AMC was perfectly capable of making shows that aren’t just serious award-grabbing dramas.
For its own stable of original programming, Netflix is trying to pull of something similar by making sure it has a lock on as many different genres as possible. It already has a high-stakes political thriller, a comedy set in a women’s prison, some kind of werewolf show, and now you can see a trailer for its next original series, BoJack Horseman, which will be its very own bizarre, Adult Swim-style cartoon for grown-ups.
As we previously reported, BoJack Horseman stars Will Arnett as a washed-up actor with the head of a horse and the body of a man. Apparently he lives in a world where that’s a normal thing to be, since the show also features Amy Sedaris as a woman with a cat head and Aaron Paul as a man with a human head. It all sounds crazy enough for us to think we just dreamed it up, but no, it’s an actual thing, and it now has an actual trailer.
BoJack Horseman will gallop and/or trot and/or prance onto Netflix on August 22.
