Here’s what you’ll be eating at A.V. Fest (which is rapidly approaching)
Because drinking Lagunitas beer and eating delicious food is almost as important to the experience as watching Death Cab For Cutie, The War On Drugs, Sylvan Esso, The Dismemberment Plan, Hamilton Leithauser, and more, it’s time to reveal what eats you’ll be able to enjoy in the friendly confines of the Hideout Block Party/A.V. Fest this year. It all takes place September 5-6 outside the Hideout, and tickets are on sale right here. (Both one- and two-day passes are available.) Below, behold the foods.
Tamale Spaceship is one of Chicago’s most beloved food trucks, partly because their tamales are delicious and partly because the people selling you those tamales are wearing Lucha Libre masks.
The Publican (and its sister restaurant Publican Quality Meats) are staples of Paul Kahan’s awesome Chicago food empire, and they’ll be representing their wares with sausage and a killer porchetta sandwich.
The Cheesies truck offers everything from a basic grilled cheese sandwich to one made with tater tots and bacon.
County Barbeque is the latest entry in the DMK empire, which includes DMK Burger, DMK Fish, and Ada St., which is a fine-dining spot located conveniently within the A.V. Fest boundaries. County will be serving brisket, pulled pork, and rib sandwiches.
Taquero Fusion serves tacos with a Latin twist, like ground beef with plantains.
Wow Bao serves little Asian buns with delicious fillings like pork, beef, and veggie.
Festival standby Goose Island, who’ve been at it for 25 years, will be on hand with burgers, chicken sandwiches, soft pretzels, and falafel.
For those looking for healthier/veggier options, Urb Garden will once again join us with smoothies, curries, and wraps.
Bridgeport Pasty makes Cornish hand pies with various fillings that you can eat easily with one hand, while holding a Lagunitas beer in the other. Synergy.
And we’re pretty certain that Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, the incredible purveyors of bold and wonderful flavors, will be on hand as well. Perhaps you remember last summer, when we paired their truck with The Melvins and a bunch of little kids? If not, watch it below. We’ll see you September 5-6!
