Here’s why [REDACTED] won’t be in the Gilmore Girls revival
Gilmore Girls executive producers Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino brought back pretty much every character Lorelai and Rory Gilmore interacted with back for the Netflix revival. They even managed to take Melissa McCarthy away from her busy movie-making schedule so that Sookie could show up. But, alas, one person did not make the cut: Poor, cast-aside Marty, Rory’s Yale friend who was super into her but was never on the receiving end of her affections. In a new interview with TV Line, the Palladinos explain why the new revival is Marty-less. They insist that they attempted to bring Marty-actor Wayne Wilcox back, but it just wasn’t in the cards. Apparently there wasn’t room for him in four 90 minute episodes. “Organically it just didn’t fit in,” Sherman-Palladino said. “We love Marty. We love Wayne.” What a typically Marty fate.
