Here's a clip of a young Louis C.K. playing an avant garde photographer on MTV
Louis CK landed on his feet just fine with his show on FX, but back in the early days, he did some zany shit. In an unearthed clip of a short sketch he did for MTV, CK introduces himself as avant garde photographer “David Cross,” maker of fine toilet art. He defends his vision, shares his dream of getting a grant to take pictures of toilets in the southern hemisphere where the water spins a different direction, and gets into an argument with a dissatisfied patron. And he gets in one meaningful, prescient jab about the network: “MTV will show you a lot of crap and tell you it’s art, but I show you crap and it’s, like, art.”
