There are many things that make The Good Place such a consistent and wonderful delight—the cast, the warmth, the relentless willingness to set its premise on fire whenever the plot demands it—but “attention to detail” is right up there at the top of the list. Nowhere was that trait better demonstrated than in the third episode of the show’s second season, which saw Ted Danson’s Michael repeatedly reboot The Neighborhood in an attempt to keep his charges (and his bosses) from working out his big secret. Each new iteration of the show’s reality tweaked things in subtle and not-so-subtle ways, but always with at least a few consistent through-lines…most notably the food.

We’ve written before about the extensive (pathological?) work that episode writer Megan Amram put into finding different punny restaurant titles for the rapidly cycling signature foods of each iteration of the Neighborhood, filling several sheets of paper—more than the show would ever need—with wonderful-vile jokes like “Yeast Infectch-yum” and “A Queso The Mondays.” And now, courtesy of an exclusive clip from The Good Place: The Podcast, we can hear the show’s cast members—i.e., Jameela Jamil and host Marc Evan Jackson —gently grill Amram for her food pun obsession. As Amram herself notes, there’s a big difference between jotting a line like “Camembert-bie, let’s go party” down on the page, and having to hear Jackson or Jamil actually speak the beautiful abomination aloud.

Amram and Jamil’s episode of the podcast lands on its servers tonight at midnight; meanwhile, you can check out the rest of the series’ episodes—including conversations with Kristen Bell, Ted Danson, William Harper Jackson, Manny Jacinto, Mike Schur, and more of the show’s cast and crew—right here.
