Hey, whatever happened to U2 and Julie Taymor's Spider-Man musical?

Though New York Post theater columnist Michael Riedel can be a total tool at times, he does get the inside scoop about what's going on—and what's going wrong—on Broadway. Today's "Broadway Matinee" column is a doozy, detailing the behind-the-scenes woes at the big $45 million Spider-Man musical. Despite a score by U2 and the guidance of Lion King director Julie Taymor, the musical is out of money, and though the producers insist that previews will begin in February as scheduled, as of today the cast has been laid-off and all set-building has ceased. Of course, Spidey's been in worse scrapes than this, right?
