Hey, who wants to go in on a clown motel?
So, we’ve known each other for a while now, and we feel like we can trust you. We hope you feel the same way. That’s why we’ve called you here today. You see, we’ve been doing some thinking, and maybe the pundits are right about the avocado toast. Maybe it is time to stop spending money on frivolous things, and make an investment towards our collective futures. So, we wanted to ask you—you want to go in with us on this clown motel?
It’s located in Tonopah, a town of 2,478 located at the junction of U.S. Routes 6 and 95 between Las Vegas and Reno. It’s on Main Street between the strip mall and the old miners’ graveyard, and while that area doesn’t get as much traffic as it used to, Tonopah’s still got the lunar crater to keep the tourists coming. And the motel itself is quite the attraction, with visitors posing with the hundreds of clown dolls in the lobby, and the clown paintings in the rooms, and the clown murals on the walls, and all over the property, really. It’s a great bargain, too, at $42.50 a night for a single room; that’s $12.50 cheaper than the National 9, and while we couldn’t get a price online for the Economy Inn, that place looks like a shithole, not to mention its lack of clowns.
Owner Bob Perchetti tells Las Vegas Now! that he’s hoping to sell the property for an extremely reasonable $900,000 so he can spend more time fishing and camping with his grandkids. He does have one condition, though: That whoever buys the hotel keeps the clowns, which he brought to the motel from his personal collection after opening it 20 years ago. “Oh, I’m going to miss the clowns. I’m going to come back. I’m going to come back and visit my clowns,” he says. Whether that’s more of a promise or a threat has yet to be determined.
….So, who’s in?
