According to Deadline, Homeland actress Nazanin Boniadi has been offered the female lead in Timur Bekmambetov’s remake of Ben-Hur. Starring opposite the already-confirmed Jack Huston as the titular character, Boniadi will be playing Esther, a slave that Huston’s Ben-Hur sets free and falls in love with. It’s a role that Gal Gadot reportedly passed on due to it conflicting with her Wonder Woman schedule, and certainly not because she found anything weird about a woman falling in love with a man that literally owned her at one point.
