Hugh Grant is wry and slightly rumpled in the trailer for The Rewrite
Hugh Grant could probably play serious roles, but why should he bother when there are so many romantic comedies that need a wry, slightly rumpled lead? Grant’s latest project is The Rewrite, a film written and directed by Marc Lawrence, who also penned and helmed previous Grant smashes Two Weeks Notice and Music And Lyrics. (In other words, it’ll probably do well.) In the film, Grant is a once famous, now struggling screenwriter who reluctantly takes a teaching job at a small college, only to (presumably) learn the value of education while falling in love with Marisa Tomei, one of his more age-appropriate students. It’s a tired premise, for sure, but when has that mattered in a romantic comedy? The Rewrite hits theaters and moms’ hearts on October 8.
