Hulu finally plays nice with Viacom, gets exclusive rights to Daria and Nathan For You

Hulu as a service has always been defined by its “buts,” as in, “it’s like Netflix but it has commercials” or “you can watch all of your favorite shows but it doesn’t have everything from Nickelodeon or Comedy Central.” That latter point is finally changing, though, thanks to a new deal between Hulu and Viacom—the company that controls Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, MTV, VH1, and a handful of others. The streaming service has already been getting a couple of Comedy Central shows it didn’t previously have the rights to, including Drunk History and Key And Peele, but now it’s becoming the exclusive streaming home for a number of “fan-favorite” Viacom shows including Daria, Nathan For You, My Super Sweet 16, and New Edition Story. 11 Nickelodeon shows and 20 Nickelodeon movies are also now available on Hulu, including Big Time Rush, School Of Rock, Penguins Of Madasgascar, and a few other things that younger people probably know about (what is Hunter Street?).

One show you still won’t find on this list is SpongeBob Squarepants, arguably the biggest Nickelodeon show that isn’t on Hulu yet. Surely that will happen at some point, or else we’re going to have to start making snide comments in every Hulu story about how it doesn’t have SpongeBob yet.
