Hulu snatches up series based on RuPaul’s life

Back in March, we learned that RuPaul had teamed up with J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot to produce a series based on the Drag Race founder’s life. It’s a dramedy, obviously, which will follow RuPaul from “club kid to drag queen, gay icon, and global star.” Orange Is The New Blacks Gary Lennon will write the show, currently titled Queen, and is already hard at work figuring out how many Mama Ru puns is too many, as well as the exact spelling of “She done already done had herses.” The series has just advanced to preproduction extravaganza, as Deadline reports Hulu’s snatched up Queen for its own platform. There’s no word on when we can expect to see the series, but we can safely assume it will be fairly overflowing with double entendres and amazing looks. RuPaul’s World Of Wonder company is one of the producers; the others are Warner Bros TV and Bad Robot. The debonair diva will also executive produce along with Bad Abrams, Ben Stephenson, Fenton Bailey, and Randy Barbato.
