I Love You Phillip Morris delayed indefinitely, either because of money or the whole "gay" thing

Despite some encouraging reviews following its preview screenings at Sundance and Cannes, the L.A. Times is reporting that the somewhat-anticipated Ewan McGregor/Jim Carrey gay romance/black comedy I Love You Phillip Morris has been pushed back from its intended April 30 opening, with no new release date scheduled. The indefinite delay is somewhat surprising for a film with such a high profile, which has given the Times cause to wax wanly on the “bleak” state of independent film distribution (Morris was to be released by the start-up Consolidated Pictures Group). Others, of course, have a different take on why it was delayed. Back when our roving reporter Mike D’Angelo saw the film at Cannes, he asked, “Are you prepared for an American film in which Ewan McGregor clambers off of Jim Carrey and visibly spits rather than swallows?” Apparently not, Mike. Apparently not.
