Ichabod Crane learns about Star Wars

Here’s what’s up in the world of TV for Monday, January 26. All times are Eastern.

Top pick

Sleepy Hollow (Fox, 9 p.m.): There’s an estate heist afoot on this week’s Sleepy Hollow, in which Nick Hawley enlists the help of Ichabod, Abbie, and Jenny to take down his evil childhood caretaker. If you thought your babysitter was bad, at least you weren’t raised by a criminal who’s also a literal monster! As of last week, Frank Irving is back, and now he’s adjusting to his new life. Abbie also teaches Ichabod about Star Wars. Check out the episode and then check back at TV Club for Zack Handlen’s analysis and weekly breakdown of Modern Things Of Which Ichabod Doth Not Approve.

Also noted

Jane The Virgin (The CW, 9 p.m.): In “Chapter 11,” Jane tries to get her mother and boyfriend to like each other by having Rafael over for a family dinner, which quickly unravels. We also learn that Rafael’s favorite movie is Dirty Dancing (good answer) and that one topic that shouldn’t be brought up is Selena, both the singer and the movie. If Rafael has a problem with Selena, we’re on Xiomara’s side on this one. Meanwhile, Jane also receives two job offers: one as a writing intern for Rogelio’s telenovela and the other at her school as a permanent, full-time teacher. Michael still thinks Rafael is Sin Rostro or at least connected to the elusive villain in some way. But we still think evil Rose is hiding something under those tousled curls.

Regular coverage

Gotham (Fox, 8 p.m.)

In the latest One-Season Wonders, Weirdos, And Wannabees, Gwen Ihnat takes you through Square Pegs, the CBS sitcom created by Saturday Night Live writer Anne Beatts.

What else is on?

The Originals (The CW, 8 p.m.): Davina enlists the Originals to help Kaleb, but Vincent uses a spell to trap Klaus and Elijah. Marcel flashes back to his days as a soldier during the First World War. Hayley and Jackson find out their wedding is not going to be so easy, because when is anything ever easy on this show?

The Bachelor (ABC, 8 p.m.): Chris takes eight bachelorettes to the beach while his three sisters interview the other remaining seven bachelorettes at the mansion. The sisters pick one of the women to have a one-on-one date with Chris at a concert and a screening of Cinderella. Then Chris takes six of the women to San Francisco for a mud run…in wedding dresses.

The Celebrity Apprentice (NBC, 8 p.m.): Contestants design and host a boat tour of New York City.

Super Bowl’s Greatest Commercials 2015 (CBS, 8 p.m.): Retired quarterback Boomer Esiason and American Idol runner-up Katharine McPhee countdown the best commercials aired during past Super Bowls, and viewers vote for the top spot. Also, there will be a preview of some of 2015’s commercials. So if watching commercials is your thing, 1. Why? 2. Watch this. 3. Seriously, why?

State Of Affairs (NBC, 10 p.m.): A bunch of bombs are missing, and the State Of Affairs team is so on it. Charlie calls up a former foe to help out.

Chasing Life (ABC Family, 9 p.m.): Natalie finds out she’s a donor match for April, but she isn’t too quick to jump into the risky procedure. Beth’s relationship with Graham starts some drama.

Maid In Manhattan (Oxygen, 8 p.m.): With all the press Jennifer Lopez has been doing for The Boy Next Door, 2015 certainly seems like the Year Of J.Lo. Revisit her 2002 romantic comedy Maid In Manhattan, in which her performance can be described succinctly as flawless. If you miss the 8 p.m. showing—fear not! Oxygen is showing it twice, back-to-back, because Oxygen gets it.

Winter’s Tale (HBO, 7 p.m.): Maybe you’ll have better luck than we have trying to figure out exactly what Winter’s Tale is about. We know time travel, a love story, and a horse are involved. That’s all it takes to make a movie, right?

College Basketball: Syracuse at North Carolina (ESPN, 7 p.m.): The Orange face UNC after last season’s victory 57-45.

In case you missed it

Simpsons (Classic): Over in TV Club Classic, Gwen Ihnat took a look at “Simpsoncalifragilisticexpiala-D’oh!-cious.” Now say it 10 times fast.
