In the first trailer for The Mountain Between Us, Idris Elba and Kate Winslet make the incredibly ill-advised decision to take Beau Bridges’ prop plane instead of waiting for a commercial flight. Then, when that crashes, the two—he’s a doctor and she’s a journalist—are left stranded on a cold mountain and must find their way back to civilization. The film from Paradise Now director Hany Abu-Assad is based on a novel by Charles Martin, and appears to mix its adventure and sap while telling its story about the kindness of strangers and triumph of the human spirit. The film is set to open October 20.
