If you illegally downloaded The Hurt Locker, you may be sued
When The Hurt Locker took home Best Picture honors, it was the lowest-grossing film to do so—and its owners are obviously still kinda pissed off about that. Now Voltage Pictures is looking to recoup some of its losses, beginning with filing lawsuits against Internet users who have illegally shared the film over peer-to-peer networks. The production company says it’s already identified 5,000 Internet connections involved, and it’s begun seeking the names of their owners through their service providers. Co-founder of The Pirate Bay Peter Kolmisoppi has predictably scoffed at the news, telling the BBC, “Suing people for being fans is just quite stupid.”
