Last weekend, it was announced that Jodie Whittaker would be playing the 13th iteration of Doctor Who, a time-traveling immortal extraterrestrial with two hearts. The most common critique of this casting was that it was simply not realistic—no, not the part about the magical fourth-dimensional phone booth, but the notion that a woman could possibly capably play this role. This has become something of a tradition, as films and TV shows make progress in casting and hiring people outside of the standard straight, white males, and reactionary fanbases freak the fuck out about how their childhoods are being ruined, or something. Anyway, these men are generally hidden behind anonymous Twitter accounts and comments sections, but a new video envisions the very real struggle they all must undergo as they undergo these dramatic acts of mental reconditioning.
