IFC calls for another season of Brockmire
IFC has called up a second season of Brockmire, Hank Azaria’s new show about a baseball announcer. Though the series has yet to premiere—it will debut tonight—the network promises eight more episodes come 2018. “This show is the most fun I’ve ever had. Well, the most fun I’ve ever had while working, anyway,” Azaria said in a statement. “It is truly my favorite thing I’ve ever done. Well, while being filmed, that is. Thanks to IFC for letting us do whatever we wanted to. Well, mostly.”
Azaria plays the golden-voiced and hard-drinking titular character, who gets demoted to the minor leagues following a viral breakdown. In our review, The A.V. Club said the the show “doesn’t throw a perfect game on its first trip to the mound, but it gets most of its pitches across the plate—and even delivers some surprising dramatic brushbacks.”
