Ilana Glazer warns: Don’t date the lying dude who says he writes for Broad City

Online dating is difficult enough without some guy telling you that he’s a writer for your favorite TV show, only to find out that he’s completely full of shit. That’s what happened to a friend of one of Broad City’s writers last week, though, when a guy named Zach tried to pass off a picture he took at a show two years ago with Broad City co-creators Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson as proof that he was a member of the show’s writing staff.

Seems like a good way to impress a date: TV staff writer is a pretty cool job, after all, and Broad City is popular among young women. The only problem? Broad City’s writing staff is all female. Here, we’ll let Glazer tell the story during a recent stand-up set:

So here’s a PSA, heterosexual women of New York City: “No men work on Broad City. Don’t fuck a dude because you think he works on Broad City,” Glazer says. If he tells you he writes for a late-night show, though, he’s probably telling the truth. (There aren’t a lot of female writers in late night, you see.)
