As evidenced by all of the blood raining from the sky and rampaging demons, the world has not taken kindly to the end of The Colbert Report. It’s only been a few months, but it still feels like a lifetime since we saw Stephen Colbert kill death, become immortal, and then fly off with Santa and Alex Trebek. So what has he been doing with his time? Growing a beard and filming a guest spot on Fox’s The Mindy Project, apparently. Mindy Kaling tweeted the news herself tonight, and The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Colbert will be appearing in an upcoming episode of the show as a character named Father Michael O’Donnell. We don’t know what will bring Mindy to a church, but her and Chris Messina’s Danny Castellano have been talking about getting married for the last couple episodes, so there’s a good chance it’ll be related to that. We also don’t know when Colbert’s episode will air, but hopefully it’s coming sooner than his Late Show, which doesn’t start until September. The TV world can’t handle being Colbert-less for much longer!
