In turbulent times, Edie Falco and Jay Duplass want to make art that encourages empathy

Edie Falco and Jay Duplass’ new film, Outside In, is a humanist look at a newly released ex-convict who is struggling to adjust to the world after 20 years in prison, and who forms a close bond with his former high school teacher. At SXSW, we talked to Falco and Duplass about making art and the other things they do to keep themselves grounded.
