Inside Out’s co-writer turns director for Disney’s Gigantic
Meg LeFauve was one of the writers responsible for breaking America’s hearts into tiny little Bing Bong-shaped bits as a contributor to the Inside Out screenplay. Now Disney has enlisted her to presumably wrench some tears out of you as one of the directors of Gigantic, their upcoming reimagining of the Jack And The Beanstalk story. She’ll share duties with Nathan Greno, who co-helmed Tangled. The story will follow Jack and Inma, an 11-year-old female giant. Like the similarly succinctly-titled Frozen and Tangled, Gigantic will indeed be a musical with songs from Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, the husband-wife team that brought “Let It Go” into the lexicon. It’s scheduled for 2018.
While it’s all contained within the greater Mouse empire, this marks a leap for LeFauve from Pixar to Walt Disney Animation Studios. She also, however, happens to be involved with the company’s Marvel enterprise as well, penning the screenplay for Captain Marvel.
