Interpol's Paul Banks has a hip-hop mixtape called Everybody On My Dick Like They Supposed To Be

Primarily known for the languid, low-center-of-gravity art-rock of Interpol and his solo endeavors, Paul Banks also likes hip-hop, gangsta posturing, and RoboCop, judging by his new mixtape Everybody On My Dick Like They Supposed To Be. The odds-and-ends assemblage is every bit as jarringly juxtaposed as the idea of Interpol’s Paul Banks releasing something called Everybody On My Dick Like They Supposed To Be, though it’s probably not as bad as you’re expecting—mostly because Banks himself wisely doesn’t rap on it, leaving that to guest MCs like El-P, Talib Kweli, High Prizm, and Mike G.

The rest is a surprisingly solid (if grotty and lo-fi) entry in the genre of instrumental hip-hop, filled out with movie samples—like the aforementioned, RoboCop-nicking “Only A Man (I Work For Dick Jones)”—and snatches of Banks’ familiar ghostly croon. Also, it’s called Everybody On My Dick Like They Supposed To Be. Just wanted to make sure that’s clear. Get a new title for your next film, Woody Allen.
