Iron Fist
Who he is: Iron Fist, a.k.a. Daniel Rand, a.k.a. Danny
His powers: Danny was trained by the Order of the Crane, so he’s a highly-skilled martial arts fighter. Even more impressive, he can harness his chi to summon superhuman strength in his right hand. There’s also the small matter of his billions of dollars.
His story: The first hint of the Iron Fist came at the end of Luke Cage, and it was subtle as hell: Claire Temple comes across a flyer for Colleen Wing’s self-defense classes. Wing becomes one of Danny’s associates after he sees her putting up the same flyers. But first, a flashback reveals that Danny was the sole survivor of a plane crash that left both his parents dead. The monks who saved him helped turn him into the Living Weapon, and he became the Iron Fist by defeating Shou-Lao the Undying and plunging his fist into the dragon’s molten heart. Things got tricky when he left the mystical city of K’un-Lun to return to New York and what remained of his family and friends. Danny, who’s literally lived like a monk, is tempted and reviled by life in the big city, where he struggles to reconcile his desire to honor his parents and his obligation to defend K’un-Lun. His main adversary, Madame Gao, tests and tempts him with her minions, but Danny’s real undoing is mostly in his head—he doubts his place in this dimension and K’un-Lun.
Played by: Finn Jones (i.e., Game Of Thrones’ Loras Tyrell)
Currently, Iron Fist is: Living in New York City, where he battles Rand shareholders and the Hand.
Where will we see him next? As part of Netflix’s big Marvell showdown, The Defenders, which will be out some time in 2017.
