Is Creed too formulaic for its own good?
A.A. Dowd and Ignatiy Vishnevetsky are back at the upstairs bar at Farmhouse Tavern to talk about two movies that don’t seem to have much in common at first glance: Creed, the formulaic-but-charming Rocky sequel directed by Fruitvale Station’s Ryan Coogler, and Carol, Todd Haynes’ 1950s-set lesbian romance. But while both critics agree on the surprising merits of the former and the smarts of the latter, they can’t seem to reach a consensus on whether Carol’s love story works…
