Isla Fisher reportedly joining The Great Gatsby

Baz Luhrmann’s 3-D Great Gatsby extravaganza continues to live up to its extra dimension by stocking a pretty deep acting bench, a roster of ennui-filled elite that The Hollywood Reporter says will now likely include Isla Fisher as Myrtle Wilson, doomed mistress to Tom Buchanan (the role that Ben Affleck is in talks to play). Save an appearance in 2007’s little-seen thriller The Lookout, Luhrmann’s fellow Aussie hasn’t done much dramatic work to date, sticking primarily to comedy fare like Wedding Crashers, Hot Rod, and Confessions Of A Shopaholic, so this could be a chance for Fisher to finally, truly break out. It also represents something of a surprise move for the director—though we suppose it’s possible he actually meant to cast Amy Adams.
