It’s about time Elle Fanning stars in a trendy YA adaptation
Elle Fanning, an actress often at the center of films about young people (such as Super 8, The Boxtrolls, and the upcoming How To Talk To Girls At Parties), will now employ her bright-eyed stare and bulbous tears in service of adapting a bestselling YA novel. Deadline reports that she’ll star in a film based on Jennifer Niven’s All The Bright Places, a book about a girl who, in what seems like a situation of questionable judgment, “learns to live from a boy who intends to die.” Miguel Arteta, director of Youth In Revolt and Alexander And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, is attached to direct a script by Niven. And if neither Arteta nor Niven eventually write a memoir about this production called Me And Elle And The Dying Boy, then they’re not as committed to the dying child zeitgeist as we hope.
