With Dead 7, Syfy has imagined a world bleak enough to necessitate reviving “Project Boy Band”. The stakes in the upcoming TV movie, which was written by Nick Carter, are laid out pretty clearly in this teaser: Some of the former members of Backstreet Boys, ‘N Sync, O-Town, and 98 Degrees must band together against zombies in some nondescript town in the Wild West. Carter has cast himself in the lead, but the teaser leans on Joey Fatone’s dramatic chops, which he honed in My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Hannah Montana. There isn’t nearly enough singing, dancing, or references to the picked-over corpses of their careers, but there is at least one crack shot among them, as well a guy who appears to be dressed as a Juggalo.
