It’s Football Night In America

Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Thursday, September 7. All times are Eastern.

Top pick

Football Night In America: Kansas City Chiefs at New England Patriots (NBC, 7:30 p.m.): Last season’s AFC West champs pay a visit to the reigning Super Bowl winners as the National Football League kicks off its 98th season. The Chiefs will have to be on guard for the strategy that won Super Bowl LI for the Patriots, in which the Pats pretend like they’ve completely forgotten how to play football for the first three quarters, then miraculously recover their memories in order to surge to a come-from-behind victory in overtime. It’s risky, but you can’t argue with the results.

Regular coverage

Narcos (Netflix)
BoJack Horseman (TV Club Classic, 3 p.m.)
Zoo (CBS, 10 p.m.)

Wild card

Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen (Bravo, 11 p.m.): One’s starring in a horror show inspired by the 2016 presidential election, the other could win an Emmy for the type of real-life horror the 2016 presidential election could inspire, and they’re both two of the best actresses on TV. The Bravo clubhouse hosts a summit between Sarah Paulson and Elisabeth Moss.
