Because The A.V. Club knows that TV shows keep going even if we’re not writing at length about them, we’re experimenting with discussion posts. For certain shows, one of our TV writers will publish some brief thoughts about the latest episode, and open the comments for readers to share theirs.
- Debbie is very certain her alliance of six will systematically pick off the remaining five not in their alliance. Because alliances of six never break down, ever, even if Zeke’s estrangement from his former alliance seems like it could help the alliance of six stay together in the short term.
- “Michaela, how you feeling?” “Like they some bitches.” That’s pretty self-explanatory.
- Everyone helping Cirie finish the reward challenge was weirdly emotional for me and I don’t want to talk about it, okay, but Probst calling it one of the most powerful moments on Survivor ever was laughable. Despite my weird emotions. Did Probst forget what just happened with Zeke?
- Sarah spotting the secret advantage and grabbing it without anyone noticing was impressive, considering she did it right out in the open. Her advantage of stealing a vote from a fellow player, and she vows to be the first person to play an extra vote correctly. Sure, girl!
- Debbie’s holy alliance of six starts to get shaky when Cirie gets in Sarah’s ear about needing to make moves so she can have a track record to prove in the end. Cirie is really good at getting people to think what she wants them to think; whether Sarah decides to flip on her alliance or not, Cirie was certainly in her ear.
- What really gets Sarah scheming though is having the rest of her alliance decide who to send home without consulting her for her opinion, cementing in her mind exactly what Cirie was in her ear about earlier. Sarah is portrayed her as the one being presented with all the options throughout the entire episode, as Sierra offers her a final three deal with Debbie, which Aubry then immediately undermines by telling Sarah that Debbie was spreading lies about her.
- Michaela might be mostly a non-factor during actual gameplay, but her Tribal Council performances are gold every week. Who else brings attitude, one-liners, and props?
- Sarah says she’ll decide what to do at Tribal, and in the end she makes her move and switches alliances, sending Debbie home and leaving Sierra and Brad with shocked expressions on their faces.
- Whether or not this turns out to be a good move for Sarah, it’s definitely a good move for the season to make things a lot more interesting. There’s no way the people who voted together here will stay together, so next week promises yet another strategy shuffle. On a scale of boring to what the heck, just how all over the place has this season been so far? It’s honestly hard to know what to make of the whole thing.
