It’s midcentury medieval when Saul Bass meets Game Of Thrones

There’s no shortage of Game Of Thrones mashups on the Internet (or on The A.V. Club, admittedly), but this one is a cut above the rest. Rather than reference such vulgar entertainments as ‘70s sitcoms or teen soap operas, German graphic designer Milan Vuckovic chose to emulate Saul Bass, the man responsible for the iconic midcentury title sequences for Vertigo, Psycho, and It’s A Mad Mad Mad Mad World (among dozens of others) for his Game Of Thrones homage. And because a classy reference point deserves a classy soundtrack, Vuckovic chose Scott Bradlee and Dave Koz’s smooth jazz version of the theme. The result can be best described as midcentury medieval, so mix yourself a Brandy Alexander and enjoy.
