It’s Rumor Time: Black-ish might be getting a spin-off
The always-good Black-ish has come into its own in its third season, attacking America’s current political climate with a potent cocktail of comedy, rage, and grace. Now, Variety reports that ABC is thinking about spreading the love, with a spin-off to the Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross-starring sitcom apparently in the works
Variety’s sources emphasized that the project is still in very early days, but suggested that the new series would star Yara Shahidi’s character, oldest Johnson daughter Zoey, as she makes her way to college. Developed by Black-ish creator Kenya Barris, the new series might be introduced with a good old fashioned back-door pilot some time this spring, as Zoey potentially follows in the footsteps of Rhoda, Denise Huxtable, or the long-lasting, gold-standard of TV spin-off stars, Dr. Frasier Crane.
