It’s Scott Eastwood’s fate to join Fast 8

Scott Eastwood will soon get to trade in his horse from the Nicholas Sparks adaptation The Longest Ride for a considerably faster (and more furious) method of transportation. As Variety reports, Eastwood is the latest addition to the Fast 8 cast, joining Charlize Theron and Game Of ThronesKristofer Hivju as a new character in the high-octane Fast & Furious universe. He’s set to play the protege of Mr. Nobody, the federal agent played by Kurt Russell in Furious 7. Little more is known about his involvement, though, as plot details for Fast 8, directed by F. Gary Gray, are being carefully guarded by a crew of street racers-turned-heist masters.

Russell will reprise his Mr. Nobody role in Fast 8, which also stars returning cast members Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Tyrese Gibson, and Michelle Rodriguez. This time, they’ll be ravaging the roads of New York, and according to Variety, parts of the movie will also be filmed in Cuba.

Eastwood, who announced the news in a very to-the-point tweet, will next be seen in Suicide Squad, Oliver Stone’s Snowden biopic, and Ben Affleck’s Live By Night. His best work, however, is arguably when he was the bachelor in The Bachelor With Dogs. If Eastwood’s F8 character survives all the explosions, it’s possible he’ll get to stay a part of the franchise for years to come, as Fasts and Furiouses have been scheduled through 2021.

Fast 8 will drop out of a plane at high speed into a theater near you on April 14, 2017.
