Despite lacking the support of his subjects, i.e., the students and faculty, vice principal Neal Gamby (Danny McBride) dreams of ruling his school as principal. As seemingly the only disciplinarian on school grounds, Gamby isn’t popular enough to be backed in his bid, especially not when he’s handing out 10-day in-school suspensions for swiping his chablis. But it’s not entirely clear that his rival Lee Russell (Walton Goggins) has been marked for the job either. He’s the school’s other vice principal, a bow-tied dandy who wants to oversee more than just the curriculum. The latest teaser reveals more of Gamby and Russell’s vicious competition, which involves fucking up some shit in the woods as well as in the homes of their fellow genteel Southerners.
Vice Principals also stars Busy Philipps as Gamby’s ex-wife, who’s already moved on to a second marriage with Boardwalk Empire’s Shea Whigham. The drawling hilarity ensues July 17 on HBO.
