It's official: NBC cancels Law & Order, replaces it with Law & Order

Ending hours of speculation, NBC has canceled the original, long-running Law & Order. Of course, the grandfatherly drama—now officially a "brand," in the words of the network—has spawned sequels like a spider dropping eggs, and along with the news that the Law & Order patriarch has been shuffled off to the retirement home (just one season short of claiming television history, too) comes confirmation that the network has both renewed the far sexier Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and picked up the new, presumably sexier Law & Order: Los Angeles to replace it. The show will conclude its run on May 24, but will live on in our hearts—and its gazillion spin-offs and omnipresent reruns, of course.
