It's the end of an era—and one of the best shows on TV—as The Americans says goodbye

Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Wednesday, May 30. All times are Eastern.

Top pick

The Americans (FX, 10 p.m.): We’ve struggled against it, we’ve denied it was happening, but despite all our efforts, the inevitable is finally here: There will be no more Mail Robot on our TV screens. Oh, also the rest of the cast of The Americans is saying goodbye as well, as series finale “Start” airs tonight. Erik Adams will be weighing in with some no doubt extensive thoughts about the conclusion of this extraordinary show, and check back tomorrow for a few words with the showrunners about how they chose to end the series.

Regular coverage

The Handmaid’s Tale (Hulu)
The Expanse (Syfy, 9 p.m.)
Archer: Danger Island (FXX, 10 p.m.)

Wild card

American Ninja Warrior (NBC, 8 p.m.): With its 10th season premiere, American Ninja Warrior is starting to become the Law & Order of reality TV: It’s constantly on in reruns, and you can pretty much just watch and enjoy it anywhere in its run, because you don’t need any sense of narrative to enjoy insanely lithe and muscular athletes navigating obstacle courses. This is the Dallas city qualifiers, if that information matters at all.
