J.J. Abrams surprise-announces Castle Rock, a new Stephen King series for Hulu
We’ve been J.J.’d yet again: surprise-loving mega-producer J.J. Abrams just announced—via a snazzy little release trailer taking a trip through a number of the author’s works—that he’ll soon be working with Hulu on Castle Rock, a streaming series based on the works of Stephen King. Named after one of King’s most frequently visited terrible little towns—the setting for Needful Things and Cujo, and just a hop, skip, and a jump from Salem’s Lot or It’s Derry—there’s pretty much nothing known about the show at this point. (Abrams even went obscure with the announcement, doing so via a picture of a piece of paper with a URL, and the question, “What is the hoax in the forest?”)
Castle Rock is presumably a continuation of Abrams’ previous collaboration with Hulu and King; he recently served as a producer on the James Franco-starring 11.22.63.
