J.K. Rowling clarifies that Fantastic Beasts will still be a trilogy, of course

It’s been two years since Warner Bros. announced its first Harry Potter spinoff, Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, so it’s understandable that some of the finer details of the project would’ve been forgotten since then. Specifically, it seems like some people have failed to remember that Fantastic Beasts is going to be the first installment of a new trilogy in the Harry Potter universe and not a standalone film. Thankfully, J.K. Rowling herself is setting the record straight on Twitter.

In retrospect, Fantastic Beasts being a trilogy should’ve been obvious. After all, the Harry Potter series managed to make eight movies out of seven books—or rather 11 movies out of seven books, if you count the Fantastic Beasts spinoffs now. Anyway, Fantastic Beasts part one will be in theaters on November 18, with part two coming in 2018 and part three coming 2020. Then Warner Bros. can get started on some spinoffs of Fantastic Beasts or big-screen adaptations of the Harry Potter And The Cursed Child play, just to make sure that the money pool never dries up.
