J.K. Rowling explains where Fluffy went and tells fans to stop asking stupid questions

J.K. Rowling took to Twitter to participate in yesterday’s Harry Potter Book Night, an event created by the series’ publisher Bloomsbury as a way for fans to introduce new readers to the Wizarding World. Rowling responded to the event, hashtagged #HarryPotterBookNight, and answered three questions from readers.

The first question revolves around Fluffy, a three-headed dog that Harry, Ron, and Hermione have to get past in The Sorcerer’s Stone. After the gang deals with him, Hagrid says he released Fluffy into the forbidden forest that surrounds Hogwarts, though the dog is never seen again.

Next, a fan asked about the origin of The Order Of The Phoenix’s headquarters at 12 Grimmauld Place. While it’s hard to imagine anyone in the haughty and vain Black family falling in love with a Muggle house, that’s actually what happened:

The last question is answered in the books, but was asked anyway because apparently some Muggle Tumblr users don’t understand the intricacies of Harry-as-Horcrux and asked the following question (edited to remove the urgency of all caps): “How come when Harry gets bitten by the Basilisk in [The] Chamber Of Secrets that doesn’t destroy the Horcrux in him?”
