J.K. Rowling stokes the fires of Harry/Hermione shippers everywhere

In an interview for Wonderland magazine, Harry Potter author/wealthiest writer of books J.K. Rowling has finally admitted that Harry Potter should have ended up with Hermione Grainger. The February/March issue of the magazine features Emma Watson (who portrayed Hermione in the film franchise) on its cover and as the guest editor, and Watson spoke to the creator of her most famous character about the series that built both their careers.

Seven years after the publication of the final Harry Potter novel, Rowling concedes, “For reasons that have very little to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging to the plot as I first imagined it, Hermione ended up with Ron.” She adds, “Distance has given me perspective on that. It was a choice I made for very personal reasons, not for reasons of credibility. Am I breaking people's hearts by saying this? I hope not.” This development is just the latest reason that epilogue tacked on to both the film and the book was a terrible idea. Getting these two kids together now would devastate a team of red-headed moppets (and Ron).

It’s up to you, Harry Potter fanfic writers. You’re our only hope.
