J.K. Simmons wants to live in the latest Terminator: Genisys spot

Terminator: Genisys doesn’t hit theaters until July, but that isn’t stopping Paramount from pumping out trailers with increasing frequency since the first one arrived in a crackling orb of electricity last December.

Unsurprisingly, most of these trailers and spots are just recutting a lot of the same footage. By now, we’re familiar with of Game Of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, A Good Day To Die Hard’s Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese, Arnold Schwarzenegger as T-800 units of varying age and loyalties, and G.I. Joe’s Byung-Hun Lee as Skynet’s updated T-1000.

This latest spot sprinkles some J.K. Simmons into the mix, however; here, Simmons revisits his Whiplash role as a washed-up music instructor who is lured by Skynet’s uncanny ability to play tirelessly at a perfect tempo. Actually, that’s not true (but it would be awesome). Instead, Simmons is playing Detective O’Brien, a washed-up cop who aligns himself with Connor and Reese.

Terminator: Genisys will be back to pit puffy, ’roided-out young Arnold against grizzled, ’roided-out old Arnold on July 1.
